I created this blog out of frustration. After decades of subscribing to the "Mainstream" men's magazines, I began to realize several things: 1) there were few (if any) men's magazines written from the perspective of the 21st Century Male. I was tired (and frustrated) of opening magazines and seeing very limited and stereotypical Men of Color. And 2 ): I didn't see any men of color who were over the age of 25. I felt marginalized and undervalued as a man of color over 30 by their standards. It was as if to say that men of my age bracket somehow lost our sense of style, our ability to care about how we looked or cared about ourself, or what our tastes were with regards to our entertainment/travel and leisure options. I wanted to have an outlet that I could feel a part of. And since "the powers that be; the 'movers and shakers'", so to speak don't seem to be catering to men like me, I decided to do something about it-hence this blog.
I am asking for your patience as I navigate through this new project. I will be adding new blog pages a little bit at a time, as I'm able to gather and post the information.
I am also asking for your help and input. I want to make this blog as interactive as I possibly can. I am asking for submissions for the following topics:
Travel-I would like for you; the readers, to send me information/digiphotos of your hometown. I will also be posting "home visits"; whereby I will pick locales and ask readers to be my "tour guide". I want out-of-the way places that tourists maybe wouldn't see. I want to chronicle "hidden gems" from many of our most prominent multi-ethnic/multicutural cities: i.e: Philly, NYC, DC, Atlanta, Oakland, St. Louis. I plan on coming to New Orleans for "The Bayou Classic" next year. Look for it in the Upcoming Events section of the blog.
Arts/Entertainment-Looking to showcase new authors, singers, artists. If you are, or know anyone, I would like to hopefully interview/promote them on an upcoming blogs.
Style/Grooming-Looking to showcase new designers and start-up grooming product creators, to interview/promote them for upcoming blogs.
Looking forward to hearing from you, the readers, as to prospective topics to discuss/add to the monthly posts.
Until next time; wishing you good health, much happiness, peace and serenity.
